Business Operations Intern

About Us

Tembo is building the Postgres developer platform for every data service. Our mission is to collapse the sprawl of the modern data stack with a unified developer platform by leveraging the power of the extended Postgres ecosystem. With Tembo Cloud, we’re dramatically simplifying the experience of deploying, managing, and scaling Postgres.

Who you are

We are hiring a Business Operations Intern to support Tembo’s executive team. In this role, you will serve as a key extension of the executive team, supporting (at different times) the work of the CEO, CTO, and Head of Growth by helping them fully leverage their time & focus.

This is a training role; we don’t expect you to have significant experience in operations (although some professional work experience is helpful). This role is a potential stepping stone to more senior positions, providing practical experience in leadership and strategic implementation. You may start as the Chief of Staff to one of Tembo’s leaders and move on to serve as Chief of Staff to another, or as the company grows, you may move into a more purely operational role serving the entire company.

What you will do (and learn to do!) in this role:
  • Act as an extension of Tembo’s leadership team — an informational funnel, filter, and facilitator with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Build and manage the cadence for internal and external meetings (including creating slides, facilitating recurring meetings, and managing follow-up communication)
  • Lead projects related to operations and efficiency
  • Assist as requested in the development and management of internal processes
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling meetings and arranging travel
  • Manage various inboxes on behalf of Tembo’s leadership team — Email, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, and more
  • Analyze data and create presentations that drive decisions and actions
  • Track high-priority initiatives to identify any potential obstacles or opportunities for improvement

You’ll be a great fit if you have at least (3) of the following:
  • Experience with early-stage venture-backed businesses (or a strong desire to learn)
  • Experience (or willingness to learn) the tools we use at Tembo — Google Workspace (Gmail, docs, sheets, slides), Notion, Linear (issue tracking), Slack, and various other modern productivity tools
  • Experience organizing and leading projects, teams, or departments
  • 1-3 years experience in operations, preferably supporting executives and strategic projects
  • An undergraduate degree in Liberal Arts, Business/Finance, or Computer Science

Additional Details

At Tembo, we acknowledge that the right individuals can make a significant difference. We foster an environment that encourages diversity, collaboration, and innovative thinking. If you are passionate about supporting others and want to learn about startups and building companies, we would love to hear from you.

Please note that this job description is only a partial list of activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time, with or without notice.

Tembo is an equal-opportunity employer that promotes inclusivity and diversity. We welcome all qualified candidates, regardless of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
